@Ctjet: I like this lua script. Do you mind if I use it in a level I'm building, with full credit in the notes of course. Let me know, thanks!

  • MARRA92 commented on Its going be awasome :

i'm working on a new version of engines that use object fields instead of ID's deigned for bigger machines, so less max rpm and more torque
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: yup! Nobody said that it couldn't be decorative, lol.
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: No problem! Did that contingency look like a fish? : )
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: Oh yeah, and thank you for your help :D
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: Turns out this problem could not have been solved even with a video of it. Fortunately I was able to set up a contingency that corrects the balls path that was altered due the physics discrepancy. All without altering the performance of the android based run. I am just glad to be done with this and am now armed with the knowledge that there are small instances where the physics may not totally line up between the platforms.
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: Well I was going to tell you that I finally have my video capture working again so I could help you out, but you've already got it fixed! I just ran the level and it cycled three times smooth as silk. You can sleep well tonight!
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: There, it is fixed, finally, lol.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: in the meantime I made another shot in the dark edit, lol.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: I do have one but it is not here and I do not have internet at home. I can broadcast wifi from my phone but it is heavily throttled. Probably good enough to download and play the level though. I'll check it out as soon as I can... Maybe tonight... Seems I am on a quest now, lol.
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: When I play KSP I can record in-game video with Win10's built in video capture but it doesn't seem to work with Principia. I was going to post a video for you. Do you have a PC to run it on? Still not running correctly on my PC, but it runs great on my tablet. Without a PC to run it on I think your are searching for a needle in the haystack. : P
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: without being able to see where it goes wrong I am finding it difficult to isolate the problem. Perhaps this fixes it?
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: Sorry no luck. Here's a screenshot of the last piece of hardware that the ball interacts with before ending up by the white block on the floor: https://www.screencast.com/t/cQzs4hMjCc3f
Hope this helps. As the Android and Win10 operating systems continue to evolve this will only get worse! If they don't provide the open source code soon we may not be able to share levels! : ( Last night the level ran through three or four times on my tablet before I shut it down so the issue is definitely associated with what platform it is being run on.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: ok, so I made a very small alteration by adding a shape extruder to the beam I believe to be involved in whatever is causing it to fail on PC. Has it helped?

  • Chad64 commented on [Entry] Build a wave level!:

I guess you may actually be right about it being rated harder. The scaling for offline levels differs from the community as far as i remember
  • Chad64 commented on [Entry] Build a wave level!:

Though you couldve used some better sprites for the squares instead of the ones everyone uses for making level layouts
  • Chad64 commented on [Entry] Build a wave level!:

@HXCTCreations: You ass, "harder"? Literally every good gd player ever lmao. Awesome graphics as usual
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: I'm writing this on my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4, and the level would have run all night if I'd have let it! Guess we will have to pay attention to whether the level is designed with a PC or Android tablet from now on! : )
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: maybe you can watch on your tablet? I am really confused as to why it is so different for you. I am not sure it is really as simple as a physics discrepancy so much anymore.
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: Good idea. I'll start verifying my builds on my tablet as well as the PC before posting. Makes good sense.
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: I guess this just won't run on a PC. : ( I would like to have seen it in it's entirety. I ended up by the white box again just as in the screenshot I posted last time. No worries though. Don't spend any more time on it on my account! : )
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

Wait, no, it gets stuck on the rail doesn't it... I don't even know right now, lol. Maybe move the rail back a little as well? Hope you come up with something as I am sure it is annoying you as much as it is me. Perhaps you can play the published level on your tablet to verify that it runs through properly? I totally understand the advantages to building via the PC but I am so used to android at this point it is just as easy to do it on my phone. All of my builds are done using my S8+ but I might want to run through and review on PC for myself.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

Maybe try adding that extra rubber piece like I Put? Could work all around.
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: Are you messing with me? :P If not post a screenshot. If so, then you had me going there! Seriously I'm unable to find any issue at all. Ran the level over and over and over....in both full screen and ball cam mode. No issues found! : )
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: ok, it really must be complete now, lol.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

That is strange... the ball now gets pinned at the top by the rubber beam... seems i made it worse, lol
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: Well there was no debris on the ground this time! : ) I still ended up by the white box on the ground. I don't think the ball is making it's last or next to last jump. Here's a screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/Bbrr4JZI
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: I couldn't recreate that error despite repeated attempts, however I did as you suggested and replaced the arm with high friction rubber, and tightened the margins a bit between the arm and platform. Did the slow motion work OK on your end? I wonder sometimes if there are subtle differences between computers and tablets etc. that can make tiny changes in the way the level runs. Thanks for letting me know!
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

Ugh... That first arm seems to be dropping the ball every time now. Maybe make the long portion from a rubber beam with high friction? Idk. It seems to complete some of the time despite that, strangely enough. Almost as if you had a backup plan in place in case of failure, lol.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Quick Announcement!:

Good idea, I am also in the midst of my own ridiculous contraption. Good luck!
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Fun With Balls:

@JD55: I did a couple of tweaks, let me know if that improved the performance for you any.
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: I downloaded your massive level and will pick it apart to see how it ticks. Thanks for the head up!
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@cswong235: Thanks! One day maybe I will approach your levels. : ) BTW, I just updated to include a slow motion sequence so you can better appreciate the bulls-eye in the cup. Check it out!
  • JD55 commented on Fun With Balls:

@dOUBLEbAD: This thing is huge, and cosmetically it looks fantastic! The first two times the ball stopped under the King & King Slayer (GOT :P). The third time it went much further but ended up rolling on the floor amid a bunch of fallen planks and debris. I'm sure it just needs a little tweaking and it will be back to running infinitely. I'm impressed! BTW I just updated Rube 2 with a slow motion sequence where the ball goes into the bulls-eye cup. Check it out. : )
  • cswong235 commented on Rube 2:

I see you are improving! Keep it up!
  • Rubicon2 commented on Duke Nukem - Boss Challenge:

@bestbattle: I made some improvements. Boss is more aggressive, and now when you respawn in the jeep, you regain control of it.
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

I feel like I need to make a new rube level now after all of this. Btw, have you checked out my fun with balls level yet? Not as good as yours but maybe a few ideas there for you.

  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

    @blackghost
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: This dim bulb finally went on before I even looked at your derivative. I can remove the entire top row of ID fields and attach a Y-splitter to the lower ID fields and use the outputs for both the 11 and 12 mini-transmitters! It's so obvious now that you told me. Redundancy is usually not a good thing in coding and game design, it can lead to lag! Good catch and thanks again. I really appreciate the constructive feedback!
  • spyninja242001 commented on Turbo inline 6 engine engine sound:

@JD55: Thanks! I want to improve this, ill be making one with a mechanical gearbox and and a electronically simulated one
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

@JD55: well, both ID fields are detecting the same object at the same time so to activate 11 and 12 simultaneously you'd only need the one ID field. I'll throw up a derivative to show you what I mean.
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: About using a Y-splitter for the 11 and 12 mini transmitters, I'm probably missing something but they are all connected to ID fields which is what activates them. Can you elaborate? Thanks for your feedback!
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@dOUBLEbAD: You know I tried that very thing for the ferris wheel fix: moving the location of the ID fields by one square and experimenting with the length of the field. Guess what the really easy fix was? I simply added a .2 sub between the ID field and the ferris wheel IN1. Works like a charm now!
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on N H Skid stear:

Seems it was more like a torque vs speed issue here and not as much being a power level problem. Getting those attributes fine tunes is always trying but often worth the effort. Nice job btw. :D
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

Nice job btw. So you know, you only need to put on a y-splitter to activate the 11 and 12 mini transmitters. It works just as well the way you did it but might be important in future endeavors. Just a thought. :D
  • dOUBLEbAD commented on Rube 2:

An easy fix I think would be move the furthest left I'D fields over that activate the ccw motion of the Ferris wheel by one block. That should be enough to finish the level off.
  • JD55 commented on Rube 2:

@principiafreak300: I'm guessing it was on the second pass with the "ferris wheel" right? That is the weak link, but before I uploaded I'd successfully run the level dozens of times. I just checked it out and got the error again. Will fix and re-upload. Thanks for the heads up!
  • Toby stahl commented on N H Skid stear:

    Thanks JD
  • principiafreak300 commented on Rube 2:

Tried 3 times, but it didnt work :(
  • JD55 commented on N H Skid stear:

@Toby stahl: Nice design! I agree with blackghost that the power needs to be reduced; maybe more torque instead of speed. When I lift the bucket filled with rocks and let it idle there it starts moving up and down on it's own. Not sure what's going on with that. By the way I gave you a shout-out for providing the drive track and gears for a level I just put up. Thanks for your level "The mechanic shop". I'd like to get some tips on how you are able to so accurately construct all those things especially the spoked wheels and drive chains.

  • Toby stahl commented on 4x4 big foot:

There hard to make basically u need the right circle size so it works out to have evenly devided gear teeth for example if u take 2 planks the same lenghts nail em together in grid 1 vertical 1 horizontal so u have a perfect x u can add gear teeth or what i did plastic boxes they will be evenly devided all around the circle than if u want u can add more gear teeth with that statigy but if u. Want to gear match that gear with ur next gear size ull still need to match the grid squares of the distance inbetween ur gear teeth
  • Toby stahl commented on N H Skid stear:

    Ok will do

great level . i like it . just add wood corner on the tip of the bucket and reduce the power supply for the arms
